He currently divides his time between one of Bath's leading Physiotherapy clinics and working as an extended scope practitioner carrying out Orthopaedic Clinics at a Local Private Hospital. He has been lecturing CPD courses online and in person for the past 15 years. How do I sign up and buy the course

Is this course accredited

There is no official accreditation or governing body for shockwave therapy. We provide you with a certificate of CPD for 5 hours which you can use as proof of competence in shockwave should this be requested from your professional body. In the UK physiotherapists are insured to practice shockwave within the scope of physiotherapy if they can show the afore mentioned competency. We have had medics, physios, osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists and massage therapist from all over the world complete our course and none have reported issues with recognition. Please ensure you are fully insured before practicing Shockwave Therapy.

Which Applicator Head?

We have also received questions regarding which applicators are required. Company reps will suggest the need for multiple applicator heads for different conditions (approx £200-300 per applicator) but as per the presentation there is limited evidence to support this. The most researched applicator is a 15 mm which we find perfectly adequate to treat all clinically indicated pathologies. If you wish to treat wider area such as a whole muscle bulk or the ITB for example you may wish to use a 20mm for easier coverage of a greater area.

Radial or Focused Shockwave Machine?

We have received feedback and questions asking whether people should invest in focused shockwave machines. There is limited evidence base to show it is superior that radial for tendinopathies and other superficial pathologies. Focused machines are considerably more expensive but can be used for conditions such as ED if you work in mens health and it is argued they are more comfortable for bony lesions and they can achieve greater depths if you wish to treat deeper lying structures.

We can’t advise you which machine to plump for but this image shows some advantages and disadvantages of both units. Should you make the financial commitment to purchase a focused machine our course will provide you with basic information on ECSWT and the manufacturer/sales team will generally be happy to offer further training on their unit as part of their fee.
